THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN!

Rounds seven and eight of the 2017 Mintex British Historic Rally Championship were held over three days and nights of flat out driving over the fast roads of the Isle of Man.

Phil said “The rally is known to be the toughest of the Championship. It is flat out driving over incredibly demanding narrow, bumpy twisty roads over three days and two nights.”

“It’s a very tough test for both the car and the crew, as well as the support team.”

“It was made even harder this year by intermittent storms – at times the rain was like a cloud burst and it was impossible to see anything! I was driving blind, just listening to the pace notes!”

Despite the tough nature of the rally and the tricky weather conditions, the Mini came through with flying colours, winning the Class and Category 1 in both rounds of the Championship.

Phil beamed “This is our seventh consecutive Class and Category 1 win. Seven wins from seven starts is amazing!”

“I cannot thank RSR Historic Engineering enough for their preparation of the car – it always performs flawlessly.”

“I also pay tribute to my co-driver Richard Suter who has been amazing all season and especially so on this, the toughest event. His guidance has been invaluable in increasing our pace this season.”
