We did the second round of the British Historic Rally Championship yesterday. The event was based in Welshpool and used the world-renowned forests of North Wales.
There was a ceremonial start in Welshpool town centre with the mayor flagging us off and after the ceremonial start, we headed out to the forests. The heavy overnight rain had made the track surfaces treacherously slippery, but we set some good times, beating some notable crews.
The stages are well known for being very technical with some fast stretches in between, so they are quite challenging.
After halfway service at Dolgellau we headed back to the stages for a second run through, the stages. The surfaces had started to cut up and picking the right lines was harder, but we continued a good pace, beating some rivals. We had a brief visit to a ditch on one stage, but no damage done and only a little time lost.
We got back to the ceremonial finish in Welshpool town centre having secured a 4th in Class and once again there was a large crowd and the announcer interviewed me and declared that I’d been well and truly Cinched!
