CGT receipts set to double in the next five years Office for Budget Responsibility projections suggest capital gains receipts will double over the next five years, from £9.2bn for the 2021/22 tax year to £20bn by 2026/27. Sean McCann, a chartered financial planner at NFU Mutual, said this is probably a reason why the Chancellor left CGT relatively unchanged in his Budget. Mr McCann adds that the Chancellor’s decision to double the time people will have to report and pay tax due on gains from residential property from 30 days to 60 days was a welcome move.
